Some of the loveliest wellness experiences are the ones that bring a few gentle practices together. AromaReiki is exactly that: a calming session that combines therapeutic essential oils, soft massage and reiki into one deeply relaxing whole.
It was created by Reiki Master Debbie Lawrence, who wanted to weave together the parts of her practice that people found most soothing. Here is what tends to happen, and why so many people find it such a restful thing to receive.
What a session is like
A typical AromaReiki session lasts around an hour. It often begins with a grounding blend of oils massaged gently into the feet, drawing on points across the foot in a way that will feel familiar if you have explored reflexology. This is followed by a gentle back massage with a rebalancing blend of oils, to help ease tension and invite a sense of flow through the body.
From there comes the reiki, where the practitioner works intuitively, using light touch or hands held just above the body, to support a feeling of calm and release. Many people leave feeling profoundly relaxed, and are given a bespoke essential-oil blend to enjoy at home afterwards.
Who might enjoy it
AromaReiki could be worth exploring if you are carrying tension in body and mind, or simply want an hour of deep rest. Because it draws on aromatherapy as well as reiki, it engages the senses gently, which many people find helps them switch off. As with any wellness experience, it is a complement to, not a replacement for, the care of your GP.
If you would like to explore AromaReiki or reiki with a practitioner, Welvow includes Reiki Master Debbie Lawrence, who created this approach, and reflexologist and reiki practitioner Emily Loveridge. Many offer a free introductory call and sessions to suit you.
Find your practitionerWhether you come for the oils, the massage or the reiki, AromaReiki is a gentle invitation to slow down, and many people find that is exactly what they needed.
