In 2020, during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I made a significant career change. After more than 25 years as a Scientific Director in the pharmaceutical industry, dedicated to the discovery and development of new medicines, I chose to follow a long-held passion and become a yoga teacher.
Yoga had been an important part of my life for many years, and after experiencing burnout in a high-pressure career, I decided to retrain.
In 2021, I completed a 300-hour accredited Yoga Teacher Training with Bodhi Yoga International and later qualified in a 500-hour Advanced Remedial and Therapeutic Yoga programme. This enables me to offer both group classes and personalised 1:1 sessions for people with musculoskeletal issues caused by injury, lifestyle, or chronic conditions.
My scientific background continues to shape my teaching. I bring an evidence-based approach to yoga, viewing it as a valuable tool for supporting physical and mental wellbeing. Research increasingly shows benefits for anxiety, depression, back and joint pain, cardiovascular health, and overall quality of life.
I teach a blend of Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, and Yin Yoga, with a strong focus on helping people begin their yoga journey or return to a more mindful and gentle practice. My classes are beginner-focused and designed to build confidence, strength, flexibility, balance, and awareness through safe, accessible movement and conscious breathing.
In addition to classes, I lead Yoga and Wellness Retreats. Since September 2023, I have hosted five retreats, with most bookings coming from returning guests, class members, and word-of-mouth recommendations. Guests consistently describe leaving feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and re-energised.
Witnessing the positive impact of yoga, in myself and in others, continues to inspire me. Sharing yoga through classes, therapeutic sessions, and retreats is not just my profession; it is my purpose.
